Dr. Brian Mendez
Dr. Mendez has over 10 years of veterinary experience with dogs, cats, and exotics with a special interest in small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. Dr. Mendez’s interest in animals goes back to when he was a teenager working at El Cajon Animal Control and San Diego Humane Society. His passion for animals lead him to obtain his bachelor’s in animal science at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo before going abroad to attend the University of Glasgow, Scotland School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Mendez completed the five-year program and then elected to stay and work in the United Kingdom for a number of years seeing small animals, livestock, equine, exotics and some local wild life before returning home to San Diego.
Dr. Mendez and his wife are parents of two young children, Rye and Henley. They also share their home with their dog Gus and two cats, Sparky and Monkey. In Dr. Mendez’s spare time, he enjoys being outdoors (hiking, camping and fishing), home improvement projects and working toward his American Sailing Association certification.
