Dr. Bitter
Dr. Bitter grew up right here in San Diego county in Oceanside. While at Vista High School she decided to become a veterinarian. When she turned 18, she got her first reptile, Leif, the crested gecko, which sparked her interest in exotic pet medicine. After high school, she took a non-traditional route of attending Palomar College then transferring to Louisiana State University to complete her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. While there, she graduated top of her class and witnessed 2019 LSU Football win a National Championship.
She continued her stay in Baton Rouge and attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Her passion for exotic pet medicine grew as a veterinary student. She was a part of numerous reptile research publications and gave talks at veterinary conferences ranging from gut-loading insects, to effects of UVB on leopard geckos to biodigestibility of different diets for blue tongue skinks. At LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, she was able to track her clinical year in exotic medicine to get more specialized training. Dr. Bitter's special interests include reptile, exotic companion mammal, avian, and feline medicine. She plans to specialize with ABVP in Reptile and Amphibian Medicine.
When Dr. Bitter isn't busy saving pets' lives, she enjoys watching the Chargers, LSU Football and Padres, working out, beach volleyball, and a good IPA. Her family includes Raya - her dog, Cali Cat, Leif - the crested gecko, Fry - the leopard gecko, Lila - the blue tongue skink, and Abba - the western hognose.
Dr. Bitter is Fear Free certified and excited to provide the best care for your scaley, feathery, and furry friend. Bolt up and Geaux Tigers!
